Connecting Google Drive and Notion to Whale

You can connect Google Drive and Notion so Coral can use the content you keep there. They work differently. Google Drive is connected once for the whole workspace. Notion is connected by each person for themselves.

📁 Google Drive

Available on: Advance and Enterprise plans.
Who can connect it: Workspace admins. The connection applies to the whole workspace.

How to connect

  1. Go to Agents › Coral settings › Connected resources (https://app.usewhale.io/knowledge-health/assistant?ai-settings-tab=resources). If you renamed your assistant, you see that name instead of Coral, for example "[assistant name] settings".

  2. Under Google Drive, click Connect Google Drive.

  3. Sign in with Google and allow access.

  4. Pick the files you want Coral to use.

To add more files later, click Add files. To remove the connection, click Disconnect. If the connection stops working, click Reconnect Google Drive.

What Coral can use

  • Only the files you pick. You can't select whole folders.

  • Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, and PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, text, Markdown, HTML and CSV files.

  • Coral uses these files to answer questions. They are not turned into cards.

  • Whale checks your selected files for changes every hour.

To show a Drive file inside a card instead, see Embedding GoogleDrive and Microsoft OneDrive / Sharepoint documents in a card.

📝 Notion

Who can connect it: Anyone who can create content (contributors, writers, managers and admins). Each person connects their own Notion account. It isn't shared with the rest of the workspace.

How to connect

  1. Go to Settings › AI Settings › App Connections (https://app.usewhale.io/settings/ai-settings?ai-settings-tab=connections).

  2. Next to Notion, click Connect.

  3. Sign in to Notion and allow access.

To remove the connection, click Disconnect on the connected Notion card.

How it works

Nothing is imported or synced. When you ask Coral a question or ask her to create content, she searches your Notion pages live, so she always uses the current version.

❓ Common Questions

Is the Notion connection the same as Whale's MCP?
No. The Notion connection lets Coral search Notion. Whale's MCP lets an outside AI assistant work with your Whale content. See Connecting an AI assistant to Whale with MCP.
